April Friesner

April 2, 1981 - December 28, 2020

April Lynn Friesner, 39, of Ankeny, IA passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA after a courageous five-year battle with breast cancer. Her sudden passing has left her family and friends heartbroken. April could light up any room she entered and was loved by many.

April was born on April 2, 1981, in Des Moines, IA. She grew up in Ankeny, IA with her family and graduated from Ankeny High School in 1999. In 2001 she moved to Savanna, IL where she would spend the next 18 years before moving back to Ankeny, IA in 2019. Before learning of the return of her cancer in 2019, April was pursuing a degree in Nursing.

April will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Amber Daniels (Dave Williams); nieces, Aliyah Friesner, Taryn Daniels, and Brieya Daniels; boyfriend, Matt Looney; her cherished dog, Bella and cat, Salem; as well as many other extended family and friends. April is greeted in heaven by her mom, Danell McDonnell-Friesner; brother, Dustin Friesner; grandparents, Thomas McDonnell, Theodore “Ted” and Phyllis Friesner; aunt, Darcy McDonnell; and great grandparents, Vincent “Vince” and Alice Gaffey.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021, from 12-2 p.m. at Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) A graveside service will follow visitation at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID 19 regulations, masks are required to attend the indoor visitation.
