Arlene was born in Wayland Iowa on October 19, 1940. After she graduated with a nursing degree from St Luke’s in Davenport, she met the love of her life, Charles Edmondson. They married on November 20th, 1965. They were blessed with two children.
Arlene continued her education and earned her Bachelors of Nursing from the College of St Francis’s and then her Masters in Nursing from Drake University. Her passion for her career in nursing led to several roles over the years that included nursing instructor, middle school nursing, serving as a member of national and state committees for nursing and eventually as a Methodist School of Nursing administrator. She leaves a lasting impact on many in the nursing field.
Despite her many career accomplishments, her biggest impact was on her family which was the pinnacle of her life. She cherished following her grandchildren in their many activities. She could always be found on the sidelines cheering them on, at Ankeny and Johnston activities, she also supported the Iowa State Cyclones. Arlene treasured her church where she was a member for the past 47 years. She enjoyed the triannual Three Sisters Reunions which included destinations of Nags Head, Gulf Shores, Gatlinburg, Myrtle Beach, Destin, and the mountains of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in–law.
Arlene’s legacy lives on in her husband, Chuck, daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Wayne Biehl; her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Cathy Edmondson; her grandchildren who were the love of her life, Kale, Fuller and Acacia Biehl and Noah, Zach and Ben Edmondson; and her two sisters Marjorie Hopkins of Carrolton, Illinois, Claudia Beckwith of Milan, Illinois, sister-in-law Sherry Janssen of The Villages, Florida, and their extended families.
