Former Ankeny and Des Moines resident Betty Hoeksema, age 94, passed January 21, 2024, in Rochester, MI.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. and funeral at 11:00 on February 3, 2024, at Memorial Services of Iowa, 4208 North Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny, IA 50023.  The service will be live streamed at https://vimeo.com/event/4044365.

Betty was born in Blackford County, IN on March 14, 1929, to the late Nova and Gettys McCammon, and grew up on a nearby farm. She married Dessel Beavans and raised three children while farming near Hartford City. They moved to Ankeny, IA, where Betty worked at John Deere.  Dessel and Betty divorced, Betty later married Richard Orendorff, and after his death she married Joe Hoeksema of Pella, IA and moved to Des Moines.  After retiring from John Deere, Betty took up her beloved hobby of quilting.  She also loved all sports, especially basketball, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family, friends and neighbors.  She moved to Oxford, MI in 2014.

She is pre-deceased by former husband, Dessel Beavans; husbands, Richard Orendorff and Joe Hoeksema; sisters, Evelyn McCammon and Edna Shadle; brothers, Murl, William, John and Darrell McCammon; and grandson, Michael Richman.  She is survived by her children, Linda (Wayne) Hodges of Lakeville, MI, Judy (Robert) Richman and Bret Beavans of Shelby, MT; grandchildren, Jon (Nicole) Hodges, Mark Hodges (Bailey), Laurie (Joe) O’Leary, Doug (Tracy) Richman; and great grandchildren, Jon Hodges, Jr., Courtney Hodges, Patrick Hodges, Nicholas Hodges, Grant O’Leary, Spencer O’Leary, Ellie O’Leary, Kenzie O’Leary, Randon Richman, Addison Richman, and Marshall Richman.
