Brian Sykes

June 2, 1971 - December 26, 2020

Brian James Sykes, 49, of Bondurant, Iowa, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on December 26th, 2020. He was born June 2, 1971 to James Sykes (Gayle) and Rachel Sykes in Estherville, Iowa.

He is survived by his parents; his beloved wife, Gina; sons, Jake, Cael, Caden, and Joshua; siblings, Justin (Jana) Sykes, and Stephanie Sykes-Comas (Angel); nephews, Christopher, Samuel and Isaiah; niece, CeCe; grandmother, Lorene Templeman; father-in-law, Thomas Gift; sister-in-law, Michelle Sajovec (Lexi(Beau) VanderSluis, and Tori Sajovec); brother-in-law, Tucker (Anne) Gift (Chelsey, Bradey, and Tommy); and sister-in-law, Kristy House (Dustin, Dillon, Ricky, Madison, Skylar, Rachel).

He was preceded in death by his older brother, Christopher; mother-in-law, Donna Gift; and his grandparents, Clifford and Blanche Sykes, and Wayne Templeman.

Brian was a graduate of Iowa State University. He was a follower of Christ, a brilliant writer, and he actively pursued his love of learning. He also loved sports, deer hunting, and competitive Jiu-Jitsu. Besides his family, Brian’s greatest passion was mentoring young football players and coaching his sons. His inviting personality drew people to him, and he did not know a stranger. He had a heart for giving and was always there for his friends in need. His greatest honor in life was being a husband and a father. Brian will be lovingly missed by the entire family and his many friends, near and far.

Service will be held at Heartland Assembly in Ankeny, Iowa, on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation following the service.
