Calvin Philip Foster (Cal, Phil), 74, of Ankeny, IA passed away on August 14, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA.

A visitation to be held at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with the funeral to follow at 11:00 AM.

Calvin was born on June 8, 1949, in Akron, OH to Calvin Tucker Foster and Edith (Sandy) Louise Ahlstrom. Moving to Ankeny as a child, Calvin graduated from Ankeny High School in 1967 where he starred and lettered in track.

Calvin married his first wife Shari in 1969 with whom he had two children: Peter Philip Foster (Jamie) and Susan Foster. Marrying his second wife Kathy Bell in 1984 with whom he had Haley Coria (Viktor).

Calvin married the love of his life, Deborah Annette Schroeder, on December 31, 2006, enjoying the last years of his life.

Throughout his life Calvin had a strong faith in God which influenced his giving and loving heart. He enjoyed driving and especially loved his nighttime drives.

Calvin worked for the railroad for over 30 years and enjoyed assembling and painting model trains and German tanks. He showed his creativity through writing poetry. Listening to his record collection primarily comprised of older music was a favorite pastime. Calvin had a love of animals; most dogs loved him especially his relationship with his grand puppies. Calvin was an incredible light in people’s lives; however, he had a close bond with his daughter Haley. He had a strong relationship with his brother Marty (preceded in death) who he shared many interests, experiences, and stories. Calvin had a special relationship with his niece Andrea with whom he shared the same birth month and day.

Calvin had a unique sense of humor and that brought a smile, smirk, laugh and the occasional questionable look to everyone around him, he enjoyed joking around and bringing joy to others.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Deborah; children, Susan Foster, Haley Coria (Viktor), and Kevin Klotzbier (Erin); sisters, Valerie (Mike) Hanneman and Jennifer Foster-Krueger (Tim); grandchildren, Jacob, Evan, Dayna, Bailey, Arya, and baby Coria; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Tucker (CT) and Sandy Foster; his son, Peter Foster, and his brother, Marty Foster.
