Carol Jean Wieneke began her life December 28, 1949, and grew up in La Porte City, Iowa.  She attended Ellsworth Community College and University of Iowa, her first teaching job was with under-privileged children in District 7, and later in Cedar Falls. She went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Education at University of Northern Iowa.  Carol taught and consulted special education and reading for over 33 years.

She loved to travel and her first stop in any town or city was thrift stores.  She collected anything vintage like shoes, purses, clothes and birthday angels.  The family bought time shares on their travels to enable apartment style stays instead of hotel or motel rooms. They also enjoyed cruises and the excellent food served aboard ship.

Carol took four trips to Poland to volunteer teaching English, and she attended English camps that ranged from two to four weeks long.

She fought Mesothelioma for over five years, and was considered in the 1% due to her longer-than-expected length of survival. In her last weeks she enjoyed beating everyone in the room at Wheel of Fortune.

Carol was survived by her spouse and caregiver, Floyd Temeyer; son, Marcus Washington; grandchildren, Marquisa, Marcus Jr.,  Marnasia, Markaysia, Marquise, and Dallas; great-grandson, Ki-Ki; and former husband, Dolph Puliam. She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband.
