Carolyn Mae Eckardt, 87, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. She was born April 8, 1933 in Red Oak, IA to John “Ross” and Helen (McClure) Oliver. She grew up in the Red Oak and Greenfield area until she married her high school sweetheart, Oscar “Dean” Eckardt, then moved to Mason City, IA.

Carolyn worked as an assistant in the insurance business in Mason City for several years until they moved to central Iowa. She retired after many years as an accountant for the Soil Conservation Service Society in Ankeny, IA. She was very active in groups at Ankeny First United Methodist Church where she was a member for many years.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Steven, Lori (Randy) Burchett, and Scott; granddaughters, Sonya (Eli) Wilson, Shelby (Tim) Powers, and Rachel Eckardt; and great-grandchildren, Eleanor Wilson, Mazey Wilson, Kristian Powers, Israel Powers, and Jordan Powers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; her parents; and brother, John.
