Carolyn N. Mann, 90, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at The Bridges of Ankeny, Ankeny, IA.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Memorial Services of Iowa, 4208 N. Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA 50023 until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A private inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown, IA.

Carolyn was born on August 7, 1932, to Ross and Vera (Clinite) Long in Grundy Center, IA. She would often recall her life on the farm and her pony, Billy. In 1950, she graduated from Grundy Center High School where she was active in music and theater.

On February 14, 1953, she was united in marriage to Roger Van Meter, and they had four children: Phyllis, Bruce, Brian, and Brad. On January 17, 1986, Carolyn was united in marriage to Eldon Mann, and they enjoyed 27 years of marriage together.

She was a long-time nursing assistant in the ER and OB wards at Marshalltown Community Hospital.  A devoted mother and loving grandmother, Carolyn cheered her family on in their sporting events and encouraged them in life. She gave her life to Jesus and served Him through Journey Church Marshalltown, at the hospital and in the community. She was often the first one to help a friend or neighbor in need. Her fun-loving spirit will be missed by all.

Carolyn is survived by her four children, Phyllis (Ron) Bagnall of Lakeville, MN, Bruce Van Meter of Palm Springs, CA, Brian (Rebecca) Van Meter of Dallas, TX, Brad (Deb) Van Meter of Ankeny, IA; three stepchildren, Randall (Myra) Mann, Russell (Ellen) Mann and Robin (Pam) Mann; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Ross; brothers, Thomas, Carey and Homer Long; and husbands, Roger and Eldon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Journey Church – Missions, 700 E. Olive, Marshalltown, IA 50158, or Iowa River Hospice, 502 Plaza Heights Rd., Marshalltown, IA 50158.
