Chad Tingwald, 45, of Ankeny, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2022.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Ankeny Free Church (118 NW Linden St., Ankeny, IA 50023). A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 1:00 pm, also at the church. Burial will be at a later date.

Chad was born September 14, 1976 to Dennis Tingwald and Sheila (Freeborn) Russell in Grinnell Iowa. He was raised in LeGrand, Iowa, and moved to Ankeny in 1989 where he attended Ankeny schools and graduated in 1995. He was united in marriage to Leslie Walker on March 6, 2021.

Chad was a Fuel Dispatch Specialist at the Casey’s Store Support Center since October 2008.  He also worked various jobs in the auto parts industry Everyone knew Chad loved cars and if you had a car that needed work, he was there to help. He loved driving around town in his white Corvette with the top down, everyone knew that was Chad when they saw the car.

Most of all Chad loved having Leslie by his side. They enjoyed biking, traveling and riding in the Corvette to explore different places to eat. Chad loved his kitties, Mia and Oliver. He would love to tell stories about them and share as many pictures he could of them. He was also looking forward to becoming a Grandpa.

He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Tingwald of Ankeny; daughter, Kelsey Tingwald of Ankeny; step children, Hannah Manchester (Curtis) of Boone, and Spencer Walker (Kevin) of Des Moines; parents, Dennis and Wendy Tingwald of West Des Moines, and Sheila (Freeborn) Russell of Ankeny;  sister, Angie (Tingwald) Porter of Ankeny; niece, Kaylie Porter of Ankeny; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his cats, Mia and Oliver.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Evelyn Tingwald, and Cletus and Stella Freeborn; and uncle, Gary Tingwald.
