Charles “Dan/Chuck” Daniel Power, 77, passed away peacefully, October 19, 2023, at the Iowa Veterans Home located in Marshalltown, IA.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Ankeny Christian Church (2506 SW 3rd Street Place, Ankeny, IA 50023). A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 with a lunch to follow, also at the church. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (34024 Veterans Memorial Drive; Adel, IA, 50003).

Charles was born August 19, 1946, in Fairfield, IA to Leo and Florence Power of Ollie, IA. He was the middle child of three, older brother, Clair Power, and younger sister, Norma Sperry. He attended Pekin Community High School. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he was primarily stationed within Pakistan and the Philippines. Upon leaving the military, he attended AIB before settling down in the Des Moines area where he started a family, including two sons, Christopher and Andrew Power, and one daughter, Shelly Lopez.

Charles was a true Iowa Hawkeyes fan through and through. He was a dedicated church steward, who genuinely loved to support family and friends. He was quiet-natured but had an innate ability to understand the world and guide those around him. He will forever be remembered for his kind-hearted spirit.

Charles is survived by his children, Christopher (Shari) Power, Andrew (Jill) Power and their children, Aubrianna and Cruz, and Shelly Lopez and her family; sister, Norma Sperry; and nephews, David, Mike, Jason and Nate Sperry and their families. He will be missed by so many loving family members, friends, and pets (Toby, Lexi, and many more).

The family wishes to denote a special thank you to the caregivers of the Iowa Veterans Home and Iowa River Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial donations to the Ankeny Christian Church.
