David D. Vols

January 30, 1949 - May 16, 2022

David Vols, 73, passed away May 16, 2022, with his family by his side.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd).

David was born January 30, 1949, to Louise and Morris Vols and grew up on the farm Brooklyn, Iowa. He attended and graduated high school from HLV. He went on to attend Iowa State University and graduated with a degree of Ag Business. He worked for the Iowa DOT as an appraiser.

He was married to Marlene Witt on June 8, 1974, and to this union their daughter, Christine was born.

David loved cheering on the ISU Cyclones and had season tickets for 40+ years. He especially enjoyed traveling to the bowl games. Some of his favorite past times were reading and going to activities with his grandsons, Aston and Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughter, Christine (Jeff) Weiland; grandsons, Aston and Carter; sisters, Ilene Hagen and Lillian Sesma. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronald.

Because he was a Cyclone fan, please wear ISU gear if you would like.

The family will accept flowers or memorials donations. Memorial donations can be made to the American Legion Baldwin-Patterson in Des Moines or Ankeny Fire Department “Adam Nelsen Fund”.
