David (Dave) Luke Beckmann, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 19, 2021, after a very shortly known battle with cancer. He was 67.

Dave Beckmann, son of John and Mary K. Beckmann, was born on July 16, 1954, in Anamosa, Iowa. He graduated from Ankeny High School in 1972. On February 14, 1985, he married his Valentine’s Day sweetheart, Jeri (Clayton) Beckmann and shortly after, in 1987, they had their first daughter, Emily (Beckmann) Nichols. In 1989, they welcomed their second daughter, Molly (Beckmann) Stormer. Dave spent many years on the road in his Peterbilt semi as a truck driver until he transitioned to working as a produce broker at Pat’s Brokerage, where he worked until retirement. During retirement, Dave welcomed two grandchildren, Charlotte Nichols and Brooks Stormer, into his family, who lovingly called him Papa.

Dave was a predictable man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fixing just about anything, keeping a well-manicured lawn, sweet treats with chocolate and peanut butter and a nice, cold Budweiser. He spent much of his time boating, keeping a tidy home (loved his Hoover vacuum), watching his favorite TV shows, like The Bold and the Beautiful, and trading in his white Chevy truck every other year.

Dave is survived by his mother, Mary K. Beckmann; wife, Jeri Beckmann; daughters, Emily Nichols (Levi) and Molly Stormer (Dylan); grandchildren, Charlotte Nichols and Brooks Stormer; and siblings, Aimee Beckmann-Collier (Dave) and James Beckmann (Lisa). Dave was preceded in death by his father, John Beckmann.

A visitation will be held to celebrate Dave at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E 1st St, Ankeny, IA, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Directly following the funeral service, the burial will occur at Ankeny Memorial Gardens, 4208 N Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA.

Memorials can be directed in Dave’s honor to Children’s Cancer Connection.
