David Sanderson

June 11, 1952 - January 15, 2023

David (Dave) Avery Sanderson passed from this life into the presence of his Lord on January 15, 2023.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, also at the funeral home. Dave was born on June 11,1952 to Avery and Velma (Swinehart) Sanderson. He grew up in Winterset, Iowa and graduated from Winterset High School in 1970. After marrying Shelley (Miller) on November 23,1974 in Des Moines, they raised their kids, Kristie and Nathan, in Ankeny, Iowa.

After completing his degree in Marketing and Journalism from Iowa State University, he began working in the advertising field at Economy Forms. He moved to Wesley Day Advertising where he later became President and CEO. He enjoyed teaching marketing classes at Simpson and Grandview. Later in his career, he started a new company Marketing Café where he could continue his passion for his work. He had many hobbies including Iowa State athletics, aviation, fishing, holiday exterior illumination, and attending his grandkids multiple events.

Dave is survived by his children, Kristie (Darren) Semrow and Nathan Sanderson; grandchildren, Maddie, Emma, Raegan, Kaci, and Kyle; parents, Avery Sanderson and Velma Frank; sisters, Evelyn Akers, Vicki Ryan, and Sue Hamilton; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
