Dennis Winegardner

August 9, 1946 - June 8, 2023

Dennis “Denny” Dean Winegardner passed away at home on June 8, 2023.

Denny is survived by his wife, Denice; children, Scott (Pat) Winegardner, Steve (Stephanie) Winegardner, Roger (Lori) Short, Terri (Greg) Short Osby; first wife, Nancy Fletcher; Denice’s children, Carroll (Bud) Shipley Jr. (Jackie), Harry (Traci) Shipley, Sheila Shipley, Jameson Shipley, Justan (Neme) Shipley; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rose Mary; second wife, Jean Ann Winegardner; and son-in-law, Roger DeGroot.

Denny graduated from Tech High School and then joined the United States Navy on February 1, 1965.  He was honorably discharged on January 31, 1969. He then joined the Iowa Army Reserve and proudly served for ten years. Denny was a member of the International Association of Sheet Metal Workers Des Moines Local 45 for 40 years.

There will be a graveside service with military honors on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Highland Memory Gardens (1 NE 60^th Avenue, Des Moines, IA) with a light lunch following across the street.
