Donald Leroy Christensen, 58, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away February 8, 2022 peacefully surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at East Side Church of the Nazarene (1451 E. 25th St.) in Des Moines. There will be a Celebration of Life following the memorial service at the Moose Lodge (2515 Wedgewood Rd.) in Des Moines. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Donnie was born April 27, 1963 to Gary and Pat Christensen in Denver, Colorado. After Donnie graduated from North High School in 1981 he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was a B-52 Bomber Crew Chief.

After being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, Donnie had many skills, but his passion and life’s career was in carpentry and woodworking. He could build anything. He was a Union Carpenter Local 106 for 15 years and loved his work family at DML Construction. He was always a jokester and will be greatly missed by anyone that was lucky enough to know him.

Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Gary Christensen. He is survived by his wife, Denise; mother, Pat; children, Tyne (Nathan), Cody (Maria), Nick (Madison), and Sierra; grandkids, Colbie, Kasey, River, Cain, and Atiana; siblings, Tammy (Kevin), Gary (Cheryl), Kim (Tony), and Steve; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
