Doris Lucille Bacot, 82, of Ankeny passed away August 5, 2017 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
A visitation will be held 5 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 at Ankeny Memorial Chapel (4208 N Ankeny Blvd), with a prayer service at 7:00p.m.
Doris was born June 13, 1935 on a farm near Gilmanton, Wisconsin.
She was married to Duane Dieckman, and together they had 3 children. She later married John “Jack” Bacot. They made their home in Ankeny, and together owned and managed several rental properties.
Doris was active in Ankeny Elks and Easter Seals. In 1992 she was awarded Hometown Hero for her work with handicapped people. She loved traveling with her husband Jack, especially to Ireland and Switzerland. She also loved spending time with her family and friends, going on casino trips, and girls’ night out with Ladies from the Elks. She enjoyed the Arts and Music program at Cy Stevens, and of course her Green Bay Packers.
She had a knack for decorating, and a good eye for designing things. She was a generous and friendly person to everyone.
Doris is survived by her 3 children, Mark Dieckman, Terry Freson, and Ricky Dieckman; 7 grandchildren, KC Dieckman, Amy (Jeremy) Belk, Stephanie (Collin) Bews, DJ (Sarah) Freson, Jennifer (Tyler) Zinn, Laura (Scott) Perkins, Sunshine Iidaand; 12 great-grandchildren, Colton, Lacey, Kylie, Bailey, Addisyn, Zachary, Lainey, Cameron, Kinley, Wally, Lillie, Austin and 2 great-great grandchildren, Asa and Rilynn.
