Dr. Milton Linver Pietz, our husband, father, and friend, surrounded by love, left his earthly home May 6, 2020, after 93 years of abundant life.  Sixty-five of those well-lived years were in marriage to Nancy Ford Pietz.

Milton (Mike) (Doc) was born October 16, 1926 to Minnie and Linver Pietz.  While living his early years on a farm near Okabena, Minnesota, with his 2 siblings, Curtis Pietz and Delpha Pietz Jeppesen, he enjoyed participation in baseball, basketball, football and showing 4-H livestock.

After Okabena High School graduation, Mike attended The University of Minnesota, first earning a degree in Agricultural Science followed by a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.  Farmhouse Fraternity remained his life-long, prized brotherhood.

Mike’s professional years were in private veterinary practice and federal meat inspection.  Most of those working years were in Lakefield, Minnesota where he was actively involved in the First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis, Masons, Commercial Club, Boy Scouts, and raising 4 children:  Carol (Rudy) Pietz Mares, John (Nancy) Pietz, Tom (Deb) Pietz and David (Valeria) Pietz.

Retirement took Doc and Nancy to Northfield, Minnesota and Tucson, Arizona relishing the beauty, music and friendships of those areas.  World travel and Elderhostels filled their years with learning and adventure.

Life continued to bless “Grandpa Doc” with 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Thanks to the many who contributed to Mike’s wonderful and lengthy life. Our heartfelt acknowledgement and gratitude to caregivers and staff at Vintage Hills at Prairie Trail and Kindred Hospice.

Given current pandemic restrictions, a public service is not planned. If a memorial donation is desired, please choose a charity close to your heart.

Blessed and full was the life of Dr. M. L. Pietz!
