Edward R. Kinlein, 80, of Ankeny passed away December 13th, 2017.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the Mass.
Ed was born May 10, 1937 in Baltimore Maryland to John and Mary Kinlein. On May 9th, 1959 Ed married Mary Kline. He worked for Amoco oil for 30 years prior to retiring in 1992, and after retirement he worked at the Ankeny True Value Hardware Store.
He was an avid lover of classical music, loved to read, collected model airplanes, car models, and was a very active member of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church, serving on the Hospitality Committee.
Ed is survived by his six children, John Kinlein, Joseph Kinlein and domestic partner Jeannie Jones, Eric Kinlein and wife Patricia and children: Lauren, Brendan, and Ellie, Thomas Kinlein and domestic partner Donna Gipple, Edward Kinlein Jr. and wife Elizabeth and children: Jacob, Mary, Alexander, and Bethany, and his daughter Jennifer Kinlein and domestic partner Cameron Mitchell; his sisters Dorothy Quinn and Ann Knighton along with numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Kinlein in 1983, and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church.
