Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Strah, 61, of Keosauqua, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life for Liz will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home (1517 Broad St., Keosauqua, IA 52565).

Elizabeth was born on September 23, 1960, to Robert and Mildred Strah in Keosauqua, Iowa where she lived her whole life. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1979. After high school she worked several years at Good Sam. She worked various other jobs over the years ending her working career as a hotel housekeeper. While working there, she met Dave Patrick and a relationship grew that had them sharing life together until her death.

She loved to crochet, making a baby blanket for each niece and nephew, as well as anyone else she knew who was having a baby. Liz was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan living in a town of Hawkeyes, but it didn’t deter her from cheering the Cyclones on and proudly wearing her cardinal and gold colors. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than razzing Hawkeye friends.

Liz also really enjoyed pro football, especially the Green Bay Packers. She loved to cheer them on, particularly when they played the Chicago Bears, Dave’s favorite team! They also watched NASCAR together with Liz cheering on her favorite driver, #9 Chase Elliott.

She was quite passionate every spring about getting out to purchase and plant her flowers so she could enjoy them all summer long. Any stray cat that wandered up to her door was sure to get a hug and a good meal. In the past, she also had enjoyed the company of her dogs, Pepper and Candy.

Elizabeth is survived by four brothers, Ray (Trish) of Ames, Iowa, Ron (Trish, “Sis”) of Ankeny, Iowa, Jerry (Donna) of San Jose, California, and Duane (Carol) of Ames, Iowa; five nieces, Lori Brumm (Greg) of Ankeny, Iowa, Tami Strah of Ankeny, Iowa, Gretchen Jacobson of San Jose, California, Andrea Carrel (Travis) of Ankeny, Iowa, and Heather Strah (David Zihlman) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one nephew, Adam Strah (Brooke) of Erie, Colorado; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; a sister-in-law, Sue Strah; a niece, Nichole Strah; and a nephew, Kevin Strah.
