Eloy Isaias Vazquez, 23, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his family on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd) with a Rosary at 6:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church (1271 E. 9th St., Des Moines) with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens.

Eloy was born on March 9, 2000. He graduated as the last class from Scavo High School in 2020.

Eloy had an amazing smile that lit up a room. He loved to crack jokes, listen to music, and be the life of the party. He loved his family and friends hard but shared the most love for his sweet little princess, Izabellah Patricia “Izzy”, named after his late great grandma, Patricia “Pat” Dark who also held a special place in his heart.

Eloy loved to stay active, was always on the go after the next opportunity, and enjoyed the thrill of living life on the edge and to the fullest. Eloy had numerous small businesses including Reliable Guy, a car detailing service, and was in the process of getting his real estate license.

Survivors include his daughter, Izabellah “Izzy”; his parents, Misty and Manuel Hernandez; brothers, Jose (Alyssa) Hernandez, Alex Hernandez, and Gio Hernandez; great-grandfather, Paul Dark, Sr.; grandparents, Teresa Ortiz, Mike (Madaline) Rockey and Lori (Eugene) Hall; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Pat Dark; and grandfather, Eusebio Hernandez.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family and will go towards funeral expenses and setting up a fund for his daughter, Izzy.
