Gloria Trager

October 11, 1941 - December 20, 2021

Gloria Jean (Shipler) Trager, 80, died on Monday, December 20, 2021 at home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Gloria was born October 11, 1941 in Britt, Iowa. She retired from Des Moines Area Community College in 1999 after 17 years as a payroll/benefits assistant. She was a charter member of Ankeny Hope Church of the Nazarene, and served as church treasurer and a church board member for over 20 years. She was a member of the DMACC’s Pioneer’s Club after retirement, an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan, and was a caregiver to young and old.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John Trager; daughter, Brenda (Jody) Romare; grandchildren, Joe (Nicki) Romare, Carley Romare, and Lauren (Garrett) Phelps; brothers, Erval (Susie) Shipler, and Kenny (LeAnne) Shipler; great-grandchildren, Joey Romare, Giada Romare, Drake Isaacson, Hunter Isaacson, Tanner Isaacson, Marshall Phelps, and Wyatt Phelps; and three nieces and one nephew.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Margaret Shipler; and son, Mark Trager.
