Hilda Alvina Kabitzke, 88, of Alleman passed into eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 9, 2015.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at the Ankeny Memorial Gardens Chapel (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
Hilda was born to Albert and Freida (Noack) Scharf on October 5, 1927 in San Antonio, TX. She was the oldest of 10 children. Baptized October 30, 1927, confirmed April 6, 1941.
She married James Kabitzke on June 5, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX. After their marriage, they lived in Detroit, MI, DeForest, WI, Naperville, IL, Omaha, NE, Cottage Grove, MN, St. Louis, MO, Mesa, AZ, Ft. Wayne, IN, Alleman, IA, wherever her husband’s work transferred them. To the union of this marriage four children were born: James, Jr., Carol, Ruth and John.
Her life was devoted to her home, family and church. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, was active in Altar Guild, Ladies Aid and enjoyed going on Evangelism calls with her husband. She was also involved in the Prayer Chain, Rebecca Circle, Willing Workers, Missions Quilting, Diane’s Angels and Adult Bible Study.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Kabitzke, Sr., step-daughter Susan Heck, 2 brothers, Arnold (Loretta-deceased) Scharf, Walter (Pat) Scharf, three sisters Anna Windhorst, Edna (Rev. Ron) Blau, & Erna (Harvey) May.
Hilda is survived by her children: James, Jr. (LeAnn-deceased) Kabitzke of Bethalto, IL
Carol Kabitzke and Ruth Kabitzke of Alleman, IA, John (Karen) Kabitzke of Indianola, IA; sisters, Alma (Will) Stephens of San Antonio, TX, Norma Frederickson of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Alvin (Jackie) Scharf of San Antonio, TX, Edwin (Irene) Scharf of Helotes, TX; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
