Holly Jean (Giffin) Schoenrock, 82, passed away on October 29, 2022. She was born on December 25, 1939, in Pipestone County, Minnesota to Floyd and Gladys (Rue) Giffin, the seventh of nine children. She attended country schools in Pipestone County and Pipestone High School before moving with her family to Hawarden, Iowa. She graduated from Hawarden High School in May 1957 and married Gary Schoenrock in October 1957. They were blessed with three children: Terri, Scott, and David. Their life was full of family and fun. They started out their new life in Sibley and soon moved to Sheldon where Terri was born. They then moved to Sioux City, where Scott and David were born, and lived there for five years before moving to Atlantic where they made their home for the next 50 years before moving to Ankeny to be closer to their grandkids.

Holly led, as she called it, a blessed life with a loving family. Family meant everything to her. As a young wife and mother, she volunteered at numerous ventures such as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, served on the board for the YMCA and the Ladies Association at Nishna Hills Golf Course. Other activities she enjoyed were softball, volleyball, golf, bridge, ball games and all things friends and family. In 1970, she decided to work at the school cafeteria so she could have the same hours as the kids. In 1977, Dr. Robert Sharp, OD opened his practice in Atlantic and Holly became his first employee. She worked for the practice for the next 27 years, retiring at the age of 65. Holly loved playing cards and board games and bragged that she would never let the grandkids win. They had to earn it! It was the same way with golf, they had to play well to win.

Holly was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Duaine, Daryl, Roger, and Kenneth; and three sisters, Ruth, Avis, and Karen.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, Gary; children, Terri (Mike) Sawatzky of Ankeny, Scott (Pam) Schoenrock of Atlantic, and David (Sandra) Schoenrock of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Kelsi (Tanner) Linden, Trevor (Julia) Sawatzky, Benton (Mary) Schoenrock, Clay Schoenrock, Alyssa Schoenrock and Emily Schoenrock; four great-granddaughters, Layla, Penny, Karter and Piper; and her brother, Bob Giffin. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held at Nishna Hills Golf Course (1504 E. 14th St.) in Atlantic, Iowa on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 4:00 to 9:00 pm.  There will be a burial service in Hawarden, Iowa at a future date.
