Jack Ryan Meyer died on October 12, 2023, after a courageous battle with anxiety and depression.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Lutheran Church of Hope (520 NW 36th St) in Ankeny, Iowa. In honor of Jack, bright colored attire is encouraged.

Jack was born on May 4, 2006, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to John and Nicole (Kluck) Meyer. He was raised in Lincoln until the family moved to Gretna, Nebraska. In December 2016, when Jack was in 5th grade, his family moved to Ankeny, Iowa.  Jack was a current senior at Centennial High School.

Jack was an amazing kid who loved his family.  He had an infectious smile that lit up the room and a sharp wit infused with good humor. He held a special bond with his sister, Kat, who was often enlisted as a small child to help him build forts, go sledding, ride bikes and scooters, and get into mischief.  Later in life they shared a passion for show choir, singing, and competitions. Jack loved his extended family: grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins.  He developed friendships around the country through gaming, in particular his friends/family in Pennsylvania. He also cherished the friends he met while attending Okoboji Lutheran Camp.

Jack enjoyed traveling to Nashville and New York with the Centennial High School show choir. He also loved vacationing with his family in Florida, California, and had a special connection to Iron River, Michigan, and the freedom it provided.

Family members include his parents: John and Nicole Meyer (Kluck), Sister: Kat Meyer, Grandparents: Linda Walker, Lee Meyer, Toie Kluck (deceased) and Doug Kluck (deceased). Jack was very close to his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also had a bond with his pets, Luna, his black lab, and especially his two cats, Molly, and Oscar.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks for memorials to be given to the Mary Greeley Foundation, 1111 Duff Ave, Ames, IA 50010, www.mgmc.org/jackmeyer. The family intends to use the donations to support Behavioral Health Services.
