Jaclynn McDowell

Jaclynn McDowell, 72, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospice in Johnston on November 1, 2016. A private family service is planned.
She was born January 13, 1944 in Worthington, MN to Ed and LaVonne (Leemkuil) Rutenbeck. She grew up in West Des Moines and attended Valley High School and AIB. Jaclynn married Gary McDowell in 1966 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After raising her family in Dawson, she returned to West Des Moines and started her career working at Younkers at Valley West Mall where she excelled in customer service earning many sales awards.
Jaclynn, is survived by her son, Randy (David) McDowell of Long Beach, CA; her daughter, Becky (Bryan) Tjaden of Ankeny; sister Barb (Kurt) Cole of West Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Elaine McDowell of Jefferson, grandchildren, Amanda (Jay) Grismore of Nevada; Heather McDowell of Glidden; Neil McDowell of Jefferson; Corey Tjaden of Ames, Cole Tjaden of Ankeny; great-grand-children, Carter and Grant Grismore, Kinnick McDowell and Brantley Davis; nephew, Jeff (Jamie) Cole; niece, Traci (Pat) Winn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary McDowell; sons, Bruce and Craig McDowell; and nephew, Scott Cole.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
