Jeff Susic, 73, of Johnston, IA went home to the Lord on September 1, 2023, at Memorial West in Des Moines.

Visitation will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) with a prayer service immediately to follow at 5:30 p.m.

Jeff was the middle child and only son of Jack and Lucy Susic of Ankeny.  He met the love of his life, Linda Sampson, in 3rd grade in Ms. Terrel’s class and they were married in 1971.  Golf jock and prankster through school, he made every stranger into a friend.  The legend of Saylorville Lake still lives of ‘who shot Jeff Susic.’ He served in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975 where he was a radio repairman and a sharpshooter.  He worked at various jobs ranging from the Ankeny Press Citizen Newspaper, salesman for GBC, Realtor at Iowa Realty, Owner of Water’s Edge Marine, Realty Liaison at Daugherty Auctions, handyman at Hamilton Place, and associate at Ace Hardware where he finally retired kind of.

Jeff is ranked #504 in the Boone and Crockett Record of North American Big Game for a Typical Antlered White Tail scoring 180 2/8ths proudly harvested in 1990. Jeff loved to hunt and fish.  He and Linda adorned their log home with countless works of wildlife art that could rival any museum.

With an easy-going disposition and a quick smile, he could usually be found out in the great outdoors enjoying wildlife, or in the garage tinkering on his latest project.  A storyteller at heart, he would be more than happy to spin you a tale with a puff of his pipe and a whisky in hand.  Jeff loved his family, his friends, his wife, and the home they made together.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Linda Susic; two siblings, Lynn Calkins (Ray) and Kris Schlemmer (Jeff); two children, Zach Susic (Tina) and Holly Moran (Dustin), and four grandchildren, Dayla and Colten, and Tyler and Levi.
