Jeff Edgington, 58, of Ankeny was called home to Glory October 4, 2017.
Jeffery was born on July 11, 1959 to Claire and Betty (Ackelson) Edgington in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Ankeny, Iowa. On May 1, 1983 Jeff was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia Pierson, and the couple made their home in Cambridge, Iowa. To this union were four children; Blake, Shane, Caitlyn, and Cale.
Jeffery dedicated his life first to the Lord, then to his family, and finally to serving his country. His love of the Lord was apparent in all aspects of his life, and this love guided him to love his own wife and children. Jeffery was a dedicated father and husband, and a dedicated soldier for 24 years. He was very proud of his service, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal upon retirement in 2011.
Jeffery enjoyed to take his kids fishing and to car shows. He was a car man, and spent several years restoring classic cars for friends, a pass time he greatly enjoyed. He also enjoyed watching car shows and passing on his love for cars to his children and grandchildren by teaching them about cars and body work.
In recent years, Jeff battled cancer. He fought that battle the same way he faced life; courageously placing all of his faith and trust in the Lord and leaning on Him for answers. He spent his time receiving treatments passing on faith and encouragement to other patients, doctors, and staff. Jeff was quick to pray for and offer encouragement to his fellow cancer fighters. On October 4th, the Lord’s answer was for Jeff to come home to Glory and be freed from his pain.
Although he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, Jeff left behind a wonderful legacy of faith and love to be followed by all who knew him. His family looks forward to seeing him again when we all come home to Glory.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; 4 children, Blake (Anita), Shane, Caitlyn (Austin) Clark, and Cale; 2 grandchildren, Jersey and Greyden Clark, and a brother Steve (Terry) Edgingon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylor House Hospice.
