Jerry Zebulon Heston, son of Roland M. and Bessie Fern (Goben) Heston, was born on March 15, 1929 on a farm near Woodburn, Iowa. He passed from this life on June 19, 2018, at his home in Ankeny, Iowa, at the age of 89 years. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am, Wed. June 27th at Ottawa Cemetery, Woodburn, IA.
Jerry was united in marriage to Betty Louenne Deemer on November 22, 1947 were married for 25 years and two children blessed this union, Elizabeth Ann (Betty Ann) and Jerry Jr. (Butch).
Jerry was later united in marriage to Trudy Olson Boatwright in December 1973 and they enjoyed almost 45 years together.
In the beginning Jerry worked for his dad in the field and in the machine shed fixing broken down farm equipment. Jerry farmed for many years in Clarke and Lucas Counties many times holding down more than one job at a time. While farming he worked for the Soil Bank, Clark County Road Maintenance Dept., drove a School Bus and spent several years working the late shifts at John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny which was approximately 150 miles round trip every day. In 1962 Jerry moved to Ankeny, Iowa located just north of Des Moines which brought him a lot closer to his work at John Deere. He kept the farm for a while then sold it and pursued his passion to get more education and progressed thru the ranks in management first at John Deere then Massey Ferguson then Brady Manufacturing where he held several positions as Forman, Safety Manager, Production Manager and Assistant Plant Manager. Jerry and Trudy later opened their first hardware store in Walworth Wisconsin and after a few years Jerry went back to Industry to work for an overhead door manufacturing company by the name of Ideal Door where he used his high aptitude in mechanics and math to move large machinery presses and equipment across the country.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Trudy of Ankeny; his children: Elizabeth (Lonnie) of Ankeny, Jerry Jr. (Kim) of Ankeny, grand children, Teresa (Clint) Collins, Mark (Angie) Peltz, Nicole (Mike) Reed, Leah (Nate) Hutchins and Mackenzie (Jeff) Netolicky. Great grand children: Courtney Hudson, Madeleine Collins, Jackson Peltz, Gabrielle Collins, Andrew Peltz, Landon Hutchins, Hayden Reed, Emerson Hutchins, Kinley Reed, Kyla Reed and Jase Zebulon Netolicky. Step children Patricia (David) Rogers, Dennis Olson. Step grand children Warren (Maya Rogers), Patrick (Kristen) Rogers, Jordan Rogers, Beth (Mark) Shoate, John Henry Olson, Meredith Olson, John Michael Olson, and Natalie Olson. Great Step Grand Children Lucy, Emma and Hillary Shoate. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers Everett and George Allen Heston, his six sisters Iona Vandermey, Mary Winn Hay, Delores Winn, Betty Williams, Joann Parmer, Genevieve Wall, and step son John Olson.
