Jesse passed away peacefully on his 79th birthday, on Monday, September 7, 2020.
He was born on September 7, 1941 in Omaha, NE. He is survived by the love of his life Carolyn and their blended family; Terry Dickinson, Dan (Linda) Guzman, Christine Sisco, Kim Reiter, Tim (Tami) Marienau, Chris (Jacqueline) Marienau, Jenny (Dan) Bieck, Dustin (Cari) Guzman, Angie Circo, their grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other loving family members & friends.
Jesse worked hard his whole life both during his career and retirement. He worked for Campos Construction and Arctic Insulation out of Omaha and owned a concrete construction business out of Fremont, NE. After deciding to semi-retire, he relocated to Altoona, Iowa where he worked for Warren Foods in the maintenance department. He also was a security guard at Broadlawns Medical Center and had many other part-time jobs in the Des Moines area.
Jesse served in the US Army and was a devoted veteran proud of his country. He was a member of the Altoona American Legion, VFW and the Eagles Fraternal Club. Jesse had a gift of making friends and spending time with all of them. The family wants to thank the Des Moines VA Medical Center and Unity Point- Iowa Methodist Medical Center for all their care and support through this difficult time.
Jesse’s most cherished memories were spending time with family and friends, his special niece Christine Gamble, his loyal companion Daisy, motorcycle trips with friends, cooking Mexican dishes and tinkering/modifying numerous projects in the garage.
Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Mendoza, mother, Josephine Nuno and his brother, Bobby, and three grandchildren.
A military committal service will be held in Van Meter, Iowa at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 am on Monday September 14, 2020 with an open-house following to celebrate his life from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home (4208 N. Ankeny Boulevard).
