Joanne Hotopp

November 18, 1936 - December 18, 2021

Joanne Hotopp, 85, of Ankeny, IA, passed away on December 18, 2021 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

A celebration of life will be held on January 6, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm at Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home located at 4208 North Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA.

Joanne was born on November 18, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ross and Irene Card. She was a graduate of Des Moines Technical High School in 1955.

Joanne worked at Meredith Corporation in Des Moines for many years before becoming a secretary at Des Moines North High School and Woodlawn Elementary School. She attended Ankeny Free Church and participated in bible study on a weekly basis. Joanne also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family and always found time to sit down and read a good book. Most importantly, she loved to spend time at her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Joanne is survived by her brothers, Larry (Nan Seay) Card and Jerry (Jan) Card; her two children, Stephen Hotopp and Jennifer (Chad) Grouwinkel; and grandchildren, Zachary (Maddie) Grouwinkel, Sydney Grouwinkel, and Joshua Grouwinkel; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Sharon Card.
