He was born December 18, 1953, in Carroll, son of Harry and Madeline Hagge. He married Debra Kemming on June 15, 1974 in Waterloo.
Jon was a 1972 graduate of Columbus High School in Waterloo and attended UNI. Jon worked at Sigler Printing in Ames as an Imaging Director. Jon was passionate about many things. Photography, cars, racing, sports, reading, history, his wife and two daughters and his grandchildren. Jon closely followed his hero, Mario Andretti since the 1960’s and admired his passion for the sport. He was a devoted fan to the Indianapolis Colts, the New York Yankees and the Chicago Blackhawks. He knew just enough about every subject, and what he didn’t know, he was definitely going to find out! Jon loved life. He was always learning new things and eager to apply that knowledge. Life to him was never dull. Even in his darkest days battling cancer.
Jon was beyond grateful for his job at Sigler and the people he worked with every day. They became family to him. He learned a lot in his 10 years of employment and was able to use his knowledge, skill and creativity while doing what he loved. When he was not working, he was taking pictures, editing photos, watching his grandkids play hockey, attending their activities and doting over his two newest grandkids. Jon and Deb made their life in Ankeny to be near their kids and grandchildren. Jon’s biggest accomplishment was the family he made and the relationship they had.
Survivors include his wife Debra; daughters, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Goemann of Ankeny and Shannon (Dusty) Pogones of Ankeny; four grandchildren, Jayden and Jordan Goemann, and Drake and Presley Pogones; three sisters, Lori Whitehill of Kansas, Dana Eastman (John) of Minnesota, Kerrie Albrecht (Kurt) of Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and in-laws.
Jon’s family would like to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the care he received from Dr. Elsawy, Dr. Elhaddad, Dr. McClairen, Dr. Puri, the Mercy nurses on 8 South and Mercy Home Hospice staff.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
