Judith  D. (Buyers) Soroka, age 77, passed away peacefully at Mercy hospital on August 23, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Des Moines on December 11, 1943, the daughter of  Berard and Dorothy Byers.

Judy was a graduate from Saydel High School. She worked several jobs through-out the years, including Flynn Shoes, Porky’s Tenderloin, St. Anthony’s school as the Food Service Director. before retiring in January of 2014 from Montessori & More, where she loved taking care of the infants.

Judy loved traveling to many PBR (Professional Bullriding) events with her daughter Shawna and a few of her close family members, co-workers or friends.

In her younger years, Judy loved music and dancing at the Val-Air Ballroom with her cousins Carol and Virginia and hanging out with her friends at the Thunderbird Lanes and enjoyed horse back riding.

Judith is survived by her husband, Albert Soroka, of  45 years; her children, Shawna (Pat) Astor, Wendi Jackson, Mike (Kristi) Soroka, Marty Soroka, Troy Clemons (plus grandkids) and Michael Clemons (plus Grandkids); grandchildren, Kyle Jackson, Bailey Jackson, and Michael Soroka; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Vivian (Lee) McMullen  and Betty Byers; nephews, Curt McMullen, Kevin Byers, Larry Enos; niece, Kelly Lutrick; son-in-law, Jeff Jackson; and her fur babies, Pepper, Keeley and Monte.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00-8:00pm  on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Eagles Lodge located at 6567 Bloomfield Rd., Des Moines, IA  50315.
