Julie was born in Guthrie Center on Oct 3, 1956. She had lots of wonderful girlfriends and family helping form the wonderful person she was.  Her mother Margret and all her friends helped create the wonderful personality of a generous caring women.  With a fun-loving personality, popularity, and beauty she even competed for the Iowa State Fair Queen representing Guthrie County.

Julie loved sports and played basketball on an athletic full-ride scholarship at the University of Wyoming before becoming a flight attendant with Ozark Airlines and TWA. Following an injury at TWA she continued in the travel industry as a travel consultant with The Travel Center of Des Moines for nearly 30 years. Julie loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful trips personally with her husband and family.

She loved sharing her experiences and knowledge with her many friends, family and clients.  They preferred to know of her personal knowledge and experiences in all their planning and travel including luxury planning. Remarkable travel was enjoyed by many friends, family and certainly clients, easily making her a sales leader in the industry.

Another significant success was that her office was “never closed” to her travelers. Even in personal travel she always carried her computer and cell phone to handle customer needs.

Nearly 20 years ago she added another area of satisfaction. Her youth experience in women’s clothing was a natural for the establishment of the CABI clothing with friends, family and clients. She hosted multiple personal CABI shows further growing friendships with those also loving to travel. She loved to entertain with friends, family and clients.

Julie was known for her loyalty and quick-witted humor. She was known for her perfection in beautiful gardens of flowers and landscaping.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Rex, and children, Matthew Preston (Kayla) and Emily Kate McClaflin. Julie has three brothers surviving her, Dennis (Cheryl), Lynn (Sandy) and Darwin (Cheryl), as well as extended family members on both sides including the McClaflin’s and Jorgensen’s.

Julie is preceded in death by her father and mother, Lester and Margret Jorgensen of Guthrie Center, Iowa.
