Keith D. Tendall, 73, diehard Iowa State fan, devoted husband, loving father & grandfather, caring brother & uncle, and friend to all, was called home on February 9, 2021.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Bondurant Christian Church (304 Grant Street South, Bondurant, IA). Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021, also at the church. Burial will follow the service at Bondurant Cemetery.

Keith was born in Ames and raised in Nevada, IA.  He was the son of Norma (Tendall) Stanfield and Raymond Tendall.  He lost his father, Raymond, at age 10 due to a train accident.  Two years later, Norma remarried and the family was blessed to add Wallace “Hap” Stanfield as a loving stepfather.  His grandfather, Hubert Fay Kirby was also an important influence on his young life, and he reflected on these life experiences frequently over the years.

Keith enjoyed his college career at Iowa State University and remained an avid and devoted fan of Cyclone football and basketball.  Go Cyclones!  He worked for Economy Forms Corporation (EFCO) in Des Moines as a draftsman checking CAD architecture drawings for 30 plus years and retired to work part-time at Lowes until about three years ago.

Keith married Cindy Tendall in 1971, and their love affair stood the test of time for over 50 years.  They adopted daughter, Kelly (Tendall) Hartfeld in 1980.  He was always kind, loving and devoted to his family.  He was blessed with four grandsons and one granddaughter.  He greeted everyone with a smile, a handshake, and a helping hand.  He treated everyone he knew like family.

Keith was devoted to the Bondurant community and served as a volunteer firefighter & EMT, a member of the Bondurant Men’s Club, Bondurant Park & Rec Board, and Bondurant Christian Church, coached Kelly’s softball team for several seasons, and loved cheering on the Bondurant Blue Jays.  In addition to cheering on the Cyclones, he loved to work with wood in his basement shop where he created many items that family will treasure.  When he was no longer able to work in his shop, he longed for short daytrips and dining out.  Keith loved the band, the Eagles, and could be found singing oldies any time of day.

Keith was blessed with good health except for dementia, which began to take a toll on his memories and mood.  He passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, February 9, 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Tendall; daughter, Kelly (Tendall) Hartfeld and her husband Peter Hartfeld; grandchildren, Declan Free, Brogan Free, Grady Free, Evan Hartfeld, and Ellie Hartfeld; sisters, Linda Larson and her husband Paul, and Gail Marks and her husband Jeff; step-brother, Gary Stanfield; aunt, Waneta (Kirby) Morfey; step-aunts, Joan (Stanfield) Fisher and Phyllis (Stanfield) Hansman-Cronk; and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or the Bondurant Christian Church.

The service will be livestreamed via Bondurant Christian Church’s Facebook page. Please use the following link to access the livestream at 10:00 CST: https://www.facebook.com/BondurantChristianChurch/
