Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of our beloved Kelly. Kelly Jo Hill returned home to Jesus on February 5, 2023. She was 43 years old, just shy of her 44th birthday.

Services will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope-Ankeny (520 NW 36th St.) on Monday, February 13, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

A celebration of Kelly’s life with her friends and family will take place on her birthday, February 25, 2023, at Walnut Creek Church (900 64 20th St., Windsor Heights, IA 50324). All are cordially invited for a night of fun, games, and shared memories.

Kelly was born to Cheryl and Robert Hill on February 25, 1979. Her battles with serious medical issues started right away and relentlessly followed her throughout her life. From day one, she began to defy the odds and instead of taking a bitter approach to her unfair circumstances, Kelly chose joy! She graduated from Adel High School and went on to study photography in college. Her disabilities only fueled her passionate love affair with her God and church. 1 Peter 4:10 describes her life’s work best: “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully, administering God’s grace in its various forms.” Walnut Creek Church and Operation Christmas Child were two of her favorite ways to do this.

Kelly was a dedicated daughter, a loving sister, a proud aunt, a best friend, a selfie Queen, a prayer warrior, a traveler, a devoted Christian, a humanitarian, and a faithful servant of God. Family and friends meant everything to Kelly, and her vivacious, giving spirit will be missed by so many. Even though Kelly was taken too soon in many of our eyes, she lived an extraordinary life surrounded by people who adored her.

Kelly was preceded in death by her Grandma and Grandpa Krause, Grandma and Grandpa Hill. Surviving family members include her mother, Cheryl Mullihan; sister Kristi Hill; nephew, Darrius Kemp; father, Robert Hill; aunt and uncles, David (Mary Jane) Krause, Sharon (Bill) Friedrich, Michelle (Dr. Francis) Spain; as well as her cousins, Jon Friedrich, Jana Friedrich, Christopher Spain, Kyle Krause, and Kent Krause.
