Lauren Border

September 23, 1946 - May 14, 2022

Lauren Cloys Border, 75, of Ankeny passed away Saturday,  May 14, 2022 at Methodist Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

He was born September 23, 1946, in Erie Illinois, and graduated from Erie High School in 1964.

Lauren married Cindy Muhlenburg in Sterling, Illinois on January 16, 1987.

He worked for 13 years for the Rock Island Railroad; he was a Painter for over 20 years with E-Z painting in Ames, Iowa.

Lauren loved the outdoors, especially fishing and watching his favorite race car driver #41 and #46 at Boone Speedway. He loved dancing to 60’s and 70’s music and his favorite band was Boston. Lauren was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and was an animal lover, especially his dogs, Muffin Ada and Gracie Sue.

He survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Steve Border, Shawn (Amy) Swaim, and Tarah Cox; siblings, Sharon Stoudt, Beth (Clyde) Kramer, Wanda (Mike) Keegan, Lynn (Donna) Border and Cindy Border; grandchildren, Brayden Koltin, Kinsley Swaim and William Cox Brother Lynn (Donna) Border.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Elna Mae (Lawrence) Border; brother, Kent Border and sister-in-law, Carol; brother-in-law, Tom Stoudt; granddaughter, Nevaeh Swaim, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Lauren’s wishes there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
