Laveda Ruth Miller went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at the age of 88 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Laveda’s Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Memorial Services of Iowa, 4208 N. Ankeny Boulevard, Ankeny, IA. Burial will immediately follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Laveda was born in Black Rock, Arkansas on January 15, 1934 to Jerry and Della (Holder) Lambert. She married Thomas Darvin Miller on March 10, 1950 in Ontario, California, and they lived there until moving to Iowa in 1969. They raised three boys together, Don (Jeri), Gary (Diane) and Ken (Karen). During those years, Laveda had a few office jobs but was mostly a homemaker. Laveda and Thomas retired to Arkansas, but later moved back to Iowa.
Laveda’s main joy in life was her family. She also enjoyed gospel music and enjoyed singing in church choir, a women’s trio and for the church radio broadcast when she was younger. She continued to enjoy Southern Gospel music her entire life. Laveda also served as Sunday School Secretary for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Della (Holder) Lambert; her husband of 49 years, Darvin; grandson, Donald Thomas Miller; son, Don; sister, Ruby Richey (Cleo); and brothers, James D. Lambert (Velma), William Lambert (Juanita), Jerry Lambert Jr. (Geneva) and (Barbara), Clarence Lambert (Betty) and Jesse Lambert.
Those who are still here to celebrate Laveda’s life are her sons, Gary (Diane) and Ken (Karen); grandchildren, Tim Miller (Alicia), Amber Cahill, Andrew Miller, Michael Miller, Lucas Miller (Nicole), and Karie Sieren (Anthony); great-granchildren, Henry and Maxwell Miller, Ashley Argana (Charlie), Tyler, Carter and Jack Cahill, Kaylyn and Dylan Miller, Sofie Roskilly and Leo Sieren; bonus grandsons Ian and Jason Roland, and great-great-grandson, Charlie Argana.
