Lavonne A. Stokke, 91, died on February 11, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd).  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church (1100 SE Sharon Drive) in Ankeny.  Burial will be at Ankeny Memorial Gardens at a later date, following cremation. Lavonne was born on November 22, 1929 in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Alma (Dohrmann) Pralle.  She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Latimer, Iowa through the 8th grade and was a member of the 1947 graduating class of Franklin Consolidated School in Latimer.  She also attended the American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines.

Lavonne was united in marriage to Donald Stokke on September 10, 1960.  A son, Greg, was born on July 18, 1961.  Don and Lavonne made their home in Clear Lake until 1971 when they moved to Ankeny.  They were married for 49 years, until Don’s death in 2009.

For most of her life, Lavonne was a homemaker, but over the years, she was employed by Farmers Hybrids (where she met her husband), Manpower, and the headquarters of Casey’s General Stores.

Lavonne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1971. She enjoyed doing word-seek puzzles, reading, and spending time with her family.

Lavonne is survived by her son, Greg (Julie) of Ankeny; grandson, Grant of Ankeny; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Harold; sister, Dolores; sisters-in-law, Elfrieda Pralle, Mavis Carney, and Ruth Stokke; one niece; and four nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny.
