Lois I Stelpflug

September 4, 1925 - June 21, 2021

Lois Stelpflug was a determined woman. She lived a full life and at 95 years, with failing health, decided she was ready for the next adventure. On June 21, 2021, she did just that.

She was born and raised in Shelby, Iowa, and graduated from Grinnell College in 1946. She then taught high school in Storm Lake during the ’46-’47 year.

Lois married Earl Stelpflug on June 21, 1947, and they had three daughters, Susan, Becky, and Holly. After living in NW Iowa they moved to Ankeny in 1959.

Lois was an avid reader of most any topic. She enjoyed golf, bowling, bridge, music and sewing. She was a crossword puzzle whiz and tough to beat at Scrabble.

She filled roles in her church, children’s schools, and the community, always without being concerned with personal accolades.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Orpha and Everette Starner; sister, Grace; and husband, Earl. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, June 25^th, at 10:30 a.m., at the Ankeny United Church of Christ (602 SE Delaware, Ankeny, IA 50021). The family suggest memorials be sent to AMOS in care of the Ankeny UCC.
