Lorraine “Lori” Dahl, 94, passed away February 16, 2021 at her home in Ankeny, Iowa surrounded by family. Visitation will be held 3:00-5:00 p.m., on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (517 SW Des Moines St). Burial will follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Lori was born May 22, 1926 on the family farm in Sparta, Michigan to Harry and Ellen (Bloom) Dufort. she graduated from Sparta High School in 1944. She went on to work at different businesses in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Golf Oil, then worked at L & L Tobacco Company. She then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she worked for Qualtone Manufacturing for 12 years and was head bookkeeper and did accounting. She was a very valued employee.

Lori married the love of her life, Lyle Dahl, on September 11, 1971 and they were married for 49 wonderful years.  Before Lori moved, she traveled Europe extensively for 3 months.  Lyle and Lori traveled throughout the United States and had several trips to Europe and the Caribbean. They enjoyed traveling and meeting new people everywhere they went.  She enjoyed knitting and doing counted cross stitch, and created many beautiful items which she shared with family.

Lori and Lyle were charter members of the Iowa Crossroads Cadillac Club and Cadillac National Club.  She was very proud of the club when she helped to host the Grand National Cadillac Show in Des Moines in 2005. Lori enjoyed her time singing with the Ankeny Community Chorus for 10 years. She was also a long-time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny.  Lori was a Christian woman and as a young woman was involved in her home church, Mamarland Lutheran Church, and taught Sunday School, went on many church retreats, and was a member in the Women’s Luther League.  Her greatest love was her husband and family.

Lori is survived by her husband, Lyle; Lyle’s family, Paul (Margie) Dahl, Pauline (Tom) Bear, Roger (Eleanor) Dahl, Sharon Niemczyk, Ronald Dahl; niece, Marlynn Barkow; nephew, Jeffery (Robin) Dufort, great nieces & nephew Marlynn Barkow, Kaleigh (Paul) Pant, and James Dufort; and great-great niece, Nora Pant.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry & Ellen (Bloom) Dufort; brother, Robert (Gwendolyn) Dufort; Lyle’s family parents, Alice & Norvin Dahl; brothers & sisters, Dorothy Gauthier, Shirley Schepers, Margaret Lier, Sandra Tesch, Terry Dahl, Judy Woods, and James Dahl.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
