Marvin H. Sandvick, Jr. passed away September 5, 2022 surrounded by his family, after recently being diagnosed with cancer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) with a graveside service on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Marv was born April 30, 1952 to Marvin H., Sr. and Ruth Sandvick in Nevada, Iowa. He attended elementary school in Nevada and graduated from Boone High School in 1970. He attended DMACC and graduated as a Diesel Mechanic. He worked in the Diesel Mechanic field until he later moved to the US Postal Service where he worked at the National Distribution Center in Urbandale, Iowa until retiring in 2018.

Marv met the love of his life, Sandy, and they married in October of 1972. Together they raised two children, Missy and Matt, in Polk City, Iowa. Marv enjoyed coaching his children in soccer and playing sand volleyball. His family was very important to him and he always enjoyed cheering for his kids and grandkids. In his pastime, Marv enjoyed camping with his wife, playing cards, hunting, and was also an avid Hawkeye fan.

Marv is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sandy; sibling, Myron; children, Melissa (Ethan) Smith of North Liberty, and Matt (Jessie) Sandvick of Marion; and his three grandchildren who he adored, Hayden Sandvick, Harlow Sandvick and Austin Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Marcy Olson-Turner and an infant sister.
