Mary Katherine Fontana

June 28, 1933 - January 20, 2018

Mary Fontana, 84, of Ankeny passed away January 20, 2018 at Sunny View Care Center.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2018 at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Mary was born June 28, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa to Frank and Regina Lenihan. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines, and later married Richard Fontana.
They made their home in Ankeny, where they raised their 3 children.
She worked for the Ankeny School District as a teacher’s aide for many years, until her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling, movies, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her children; Randy and Jim (Kim); grandchildren, Haley and Kate Fontana, and Chris and Jon (Jill) Fontana; great grandchildren, Bradley, Juliana, Anthony, Hayden, and Sophia Fontana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, and a son, Rick.
