Mary Kay was born on October 20, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Don and Lil Omann. She attended Pomeroy High School and graduated from Iowa School of Beauty in Fort Dodge.

Mary Kay’s Catholic faith was extremely important to her, and she lived to help others. She loved to cook meals for those in need and make cookies for family, friends, and neighbors. She was serving others until her final days, crocheting hats for cancer patients, and stitching baptismal bibs.

Her family was the center of her life. She was a devoted wife to Steve for 56 years, a dedicated mother of five children and grandmother to ten grandchildren. Family dinners were special to her. As she raised her family, she prioritized having a family meal each day. When her children started their own families, she loved joining them for a Sunday meal. She loved, loved, loved spoiling her grandchildren and always let them raid the candy jar when they came to visit.

She developed a love for crocheting and soap operas while hanging out with her grandmother when she was a young girl. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and could never pass up a good garage sale. She had friends everywhere she lived, and she had an amazing ability to carry a conversation with anyone.

She battled a brutal lung disease with dignity and honor, and always kept a positive attitude. Her motto was, “there are others that have it worse than me”.

She is survived by her husband, Steve B. Morrissey; her children, Melissa Halling (Mark), Gina Morrissey, Steve J. Morrisey (Ari), Brian Morrissey (Kari) and Jessica Willer (Ryan); grandchildren, Marcus, Charlie, Patrick, Maya, Briana, Lily, Noah, Elijah, Isaac and Elizabeth; as well as siblings Bob Omann, Becky Omann, and Deb Nickell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Lil Omann; and her brother, Ron Omann.
