Mary Maxine Worden Anderson, 99, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed into eternal life May 2, 2018 at the Suites of Ankeny. She was born May 18, 1918 to George and Mary (Watts) Worden and married Marvin A. Anderson June 25, 1938. She shared her love with her children Maureen (Charles) Caufield, Alan (Karen) Anderson, and Mary Ann (Donald) Madole; sister Glenna McGinnis of Boone, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren in addition to many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Donald Worden and sister Wilma Paul, and grandson Daniel Hartnett.
Maxine was a hard-working wife who lived and shared her Christian values. She was also a 4-H Leader, church soloist, and great cook known for her raisin cream pie, buttermilk brownies and escalloped corn. She inherited her love of the Chicago Cubs from her father and has shared that with her family.
Maxine attended school in Dows, Iowa and graduated from Drake University. She was a teacher, starting in a one-room country school and retiring from the Ballard School System as a third grade teacher in Kelley. She also taught in the Allison-Bristow and Bondurant Farrar school systems.
Memorials may be directed to her church, the Ankeny First United Methodist Church, or DMARC Food Pantry. Interment will be at the Morgan Center Methodist Church Cemetery, Dows, Iowa.
