Mary Rose (Lammers) Vonnahme was born on September 21, 1930 in Carroll, Iowa to Frank and Minnie Lammers. She passed away January 1, 2016 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Mary and her husband Wayne were married in Carroll on June 22, 1949. They lived in several places over their lifetime together. Their adventures with eight children took them from Carroll, Coon Rapids, Guthrie Center, Exira and Lancaster, Missouri. Following Wayne’s death in 1985, Mary lived in Carroll before moving to Ankeny and then lived the last two years at Ballard Creek Assisted Living in Huxley.

Mary is survived by six children, Beverly (Dwight) Whitlatch, Ankeny, IA; Linda (Roger) Thomas, Apple Valley, MN; Randy (Shirley) Vonnahme, Ankeny, IA; Keith (Nancy) Vonnahme, Farmington, MN; Karla Vonnahme, Prior Lake, MN; Kay Vonnahme, Grimes, IA and daughter- in- law, Loretta Sloss, Stuart, IA. Mary will be missed by her 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Mary is also survived by several brothers and sisters, Doris Ratchford, Charlotte Wurzer, Darleen Duhon, Robert Lammers, Arnold Lammers and Gerald Lammers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, son Allan, daughter Kim and infant daughter Janet plus several brothers and sisters.

A mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny. Visitation will be at the church starting at 9:00 am before the funeral on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Mount Carmel, Iowa.

Mary’s family would like to thank the staff and her friends at Ballard Creek Assisted Living in Huxley for all the help and love they gave their mother. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Ballard Creek Assisted Living- ACTS Fund (Assistance with compassion to seniors) 908 US-69 Huxley, Iowa 50124.
