Mary Yvonne Trusty, 86, of Ankeny passed away peacefully on Sunday March 18, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held Sunday March 25, 2018, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ankeny Memorial Chapel (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd) with a prayer service to follow. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 26, 10:30 a.m., also at the chapel.
Mary was born July 22, 1931 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She graduated from Corpus Christi Academy, Fort Dodge Iowa in 1949. Mary met Thomas Trusty in 7th grade at Corpus Christi Academy. They married November 15, 1950 and were happily married for 64 years. Tom and Mary were loving parents to their five children. They moved their family to Ankeny, Iowa in 1959 and remained there throughout their lives.
In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Mary worked several years as a Surgical Technician at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She also enjoyed her hobbies of golf, bowling and bridge club. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family & friends.
Mary is survived by her children, Tom (Barb), Catherine King, Beth Rohwedder, and Lisa (Bruce) Kinseth; her daughter in-law Stephanie, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Veronica, her husband Thomas, her son Mark, her brother John and her sister Catherine “Kye”.
Mary’s family would like to extend thanks and praise to the staff at MillPond Retirement Community, for the exceptional care and comfort provided to Mary while she was a resident there.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mosaic (a nonprofit organization for adults with disabilities) in loving acknowledgement of her grandson Christopher Dale Keast.
