Karen - I haven't known you and Merle very long but it has been such a great friendship. What a joy for our family to know the Stodghill and Kaplan families.
Our official score keeper will be looking over the NM girls at every game. I was so lucky to visit both of you a few weeks ago. Take care of yourself and know that I am thinking of you!! Judy

So sorry to learn we lost Merle. He helped train me on claims starting in 1969. We've remained friends throughout the years and would meet once a year with a few other oldies at the Iowa Machine Shed for lunch and to talk about the good old days.
Prayers for Karen and the family. We'll all miss Merle tremendously.

Merle and Karen were wonderful neighbors for many years. We helped each
other out many times.

I'll never forget when Merle got a little too close to the ravine behind out
acreages. He went down the hill backwards on his tractor, but luckily was
not injured and somehow did not flip his tractor over. He came and asked
my husband Dean if he had a heavy chain and could he pull him out. My
husband could not believe he made that wild ride backward and was not
seriously hurt!! Thank Goodness!!

Dean and I moved away from the neighborhood but stayed in touch with
Merle and Karen. We are not able to attend the services but our thoughts
and prayers are with all the family.
