Mildred Louise Matijevich, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 9, 2016. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Memorial Services of Iowa Funeral Chapel (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service.
Millie was born in Jacksonville, Illinois on November 17, 1928 to Maurice and Edna Crabbe. Millie worked in the Clerk’s Office at the Supreme Court of Iowa for many years. She was a loving wife to Frank for 69 years and the amazing mother of 5 children. She was a remarkable person. Millie was known for her delicious spaghetti sauce, her warm smile and kind spirit. She loved crocheting, being on the lake and fishing, and enjoyed watching basketball games. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Mary) Matijevich of Las Vegas, NV, Cheryl Hartzer of Arlington, TX, Larry (Linda) Matijevich of Polk City, IA, and Mary Jane (John) Burrell of Spencerport, NY, along with 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was the embodiment of grace and virtue.
She is preceded in death by her husband Frank, son Ed, and grandson Stephen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Taylor House Hospice of Des Moines or Adelphi Calvary Baptist Church in Runnells, IA.
