Richard Paul Payne, 82, of Polk City, IA, passed away January 1, 2021, at Mercy One Hospice in Johnston, Iowa

A visitation will be held January 4, 2021 from 4:00 -6:30 p.m. at 6:30 p.m. a Rosary will begin at Memorial Services of Iowa, 4208 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny, IA.
A funeral mass will be held January 5th at 10:30 a.m. at St Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1102 NW Weigel Drive, Ankeny, IA. Mask requirements and social distancing will be followed. Richard was born to Leo and Adelia Payne on December 18, 1938, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was married to Martha Sue Smith October 20, 1962.

He is survived by his wife Martha; sisters Germaine Shepard and Kathleen Hurley; daughter Ellen (Andrew) Peterson of Polk City, IA, daughter Rochelle (Martin) McCormick of Greenville, SC, son Vincent (Lisa) Payne of Oskaloosa, IA, daughter Laura (Robert) Stormont of Marietta, GA, and Rebecca (Andrew) Koch of St. Paul, MN; and 11 grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bernard, Phillip, Martin, David, Benedict, Jeanette and Martha.
