Mr. Richard Seymour Martin

October 2, 1930 - August 13, 2020

Richard “Dick”S. Martin, 89, passed away August 13, 2020 at home.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church (1102 NW Weigel Drive, Ankeny, Iowa), with burial to follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the mass.

Dick was born to Seymour and Anna Margaret Martin on October 2, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Dick married his true love, Rosemary, on March 7, 1953 and spent 62 joyous years together until her death March 4, 2015.

Upon graduation from St. Ambrose College, Dick was inducted into the Army where he served in the Korean War, among other deployments, from 1952 to 1954. Dick retired from the City of Des Moines in August of 1988. During retirement, Dick and Rosemary spent their remaining years together traveling and spending winters in Arizona. In addition, one of Dick’s favorite pastimes was volunteering for Methodist Hospital.

Dick is survived by his children Michael (El Paso, TX), Roseann and Patrick (Urbandale, IA) and Robert (San Antonio, TX). In addition, Dick is also survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack; and his wife, Rosemary.
